Exploding Birthday Box

Hi Bloggers.

I hope your Monday hasn’t been too stressful.  Tonight I’m sharing an exploding box with you.  This was a last minute request – boy was it a stressful project.  I was asked to make it on the Thursday afternoon and my friend needed it first thing Friday morning.  I warned Chris he may need to help with the sticking and feeding me copious amounts of coffee.  It was hard but I got there, but I do wish I had more time because I would love to have embellished it more.  Oh and don’t look at it too closely – it’s not as neat as I would have liked.  Ah well, next time…

It was a 40th birthday card, in case you’re wondering why it says Josephine 40.

Materials

Sentiment – sorry I still can’t remember where this came from but it was a downloadable freebie and inked round the edges
Letters – Dreamsfulfilled (I edited an I to make a 4 on Photoshop)
Sparkly beaded ribbon – LLB (this was a gift from the wonderful Trisha)

Is It A Box or Is It a Card???

Hi everyone, how are you all?

Before I start I’d better warn you this is a picture heavy post.

I was asked to make a birthday card for someone whose birthday was on Christmas Day (yeah I know enough with the Christmas it’s February!!).  It was to be a birthday card but with a Christmas feel to it, oh and could I make it with Peter Andre and One Direction on it somewhere too – so I scratched my head and thought… Christmas Present…
I made an exploding hexagon box.  (I needed six sides cos there’s five members of One Direction and one for Peter Andre) and made a rosette for the top to look like a bow.  This would make more sense if I showed you so here’s the outside….

This is it with the lid off.  I printed off the pics on photo paper so they would be shiny, printed her name off in a Christmassy font and matted it all onto Christmas paper

Card-079

This picture didn’t turn out to well but it was just to show you the card I made for the centre so they could write on it.

Here it all is with the decorated lid.  I added a few sparkles to the bow cos it needed a bit of a lift.

I’m pleased to say that Sophie loved it and so did her aunt, who commissioned it.  Is it just me or do you dread making commissions – I’m always frightened they don’t like it Flirt male

Materials

Papers from SuziQ Scraps
Images from the internet
Gems from stash
The sentiment and letters were freebies but I’m sorry I can’t remember where I got them from – if I remember I’ll come back and edit this

Variation on a Theme - Another Baby Box

Hello Again.

A good friend at work became a grandmother for the first time this week to a beautiful baby girl called Tilly.  I was going to make another pair of baby shoes (check them out here and here) but decided to go for something different this time, so I made a pram.  I spent my lunch-hour designing a template and printed it out on paper to see if it would work (just aswell cos I only made two wheels - thinking in 2D instead of 3D oops).  I think it turned out rather well - what do you think?

I spent the next night making a box.  I had to use the baby pram embossing folder that came with my cuttlebug on this cos it matched perfectly.

Here they both are together.

And all tied up with a pretty ribbon ready for delivery.

Hope you like them as much as the new granny did.

Thanks for stopping by.
