Vintage Birthday Card

Hi there bloggers, I hope you're all having a great weekend.

This is the birthday card I made for my niece (the younger sister of the one that I made the fairy card for). She works in one of Glasgow's swankiest hair salons and loves all things fashion related. Every time I see her dressed for a night out she's dressed in a vintage dress so it had to be a vintage card, didn't it.

I couldn't find an image I liked so out came my trusty pencils and I drew this myself, scanned it and produced my own digi-stamp. I wanted something similar to the dress she wore last Christmas so this is what I came up with. It's coloured in with Promarkers.

I blended the edges of a bit of white card with some dark copper coloured ink to match the dress and distressed it with a pair of scissors, then used the ink again to get a darker edge and then mounted the image with some foam tabs.

I then used the same ink on the Cuttlebug swirls folder and ran it through the bug with another bit of white card. The brown card is from stock and I distressed the edges of this and the Cuttlebug card too. (Can you tell I was getting into this distressing malarkey?) I stuck some teeny bits of ribbon loops to the back of the image mount and stuck on some little pearls.

The sentiment is a from a freebie set from Caz , that Claire gave me the link for, also inked but not distressed.
The whole thing is mounted onto some cream coloured card stock.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly Sketch Challenge - #49
Stamp Something – October Digi Day Challenge – My own digi-stamp
Charisma Cardz Challenge #40 – Vintage
Hodge Podge Shop Challenge #2 – Monochromatic

  11. That digi is fab Jaqui! Do you know I was just chatting with someone at the weekend about how fab it would be if more people used their own art in their projects rather than just instinctively reaching for a stamp. Case in point exactamon my friend. Fabulous!
