Footie Easel Card

Happy Tuesday Everyone.

The card I want to show you is my first ever easel card.  I had visions of getting in a twist with it but it was pretty straightforward.  I cheated slightly and used 1 1/2 card blanks.

038

A friend at work asked me to make a card for her grandson, who is 10 on Christmas Day.  He plays for East Kilbride Thistle Juniors so I designed my own digi-stamp and coloured him in the teams colours.  I snagged the backgrounds and the football from the net.  The sentiment was made on Photoshop.

My favourite bit (apart from my image – which I’m chuffed with) is the football.  I stuck it onto some acetate and attached it to the card with a glue dot so it looks as if it’s floating.  You can sort of see what I mean in the bottom picture.

Background stadium and grass from the net
Digi-stamp – my own
Football from the net
Sentiment – my own designed on Photoshop Elements

My Sister’s Birthday Card

I hope you’re all having a great Monday - or as great a Monday as you can have Winking smile
037
Tonight I’d like to show you a card I made for my big sister.  She made me promise that I wouldn’t put her age on it especially as she knew I’d put it on my blog – under penalty of death I hasten to add Laughing out loud.  So there was no way I was putting her age on it and Rosalyn, if you’re reading this, I’m gonna do it next year Rolling on the floor laughing
I’ve had this image for ages and I’ve been waiting to use it, it’s just so cute.  It was a freebie and I can’t remember where from, sorry.  If anyone recognises it can you let me know so I can give credit where it’s due.

Recipe

Card blank from stock
Backing Papers – Raspberry Road Designs, Papermania Blueberry Hill pack, scrap
Image – sorry can’t remember
Flower – Shapabilities flower die (this isn’t where I bought, just a picture of it)
Martha Stewart ATP Vintage Lace
Pearls and Gemstone from stock

Goodnight all

White Flower Card

Good evening bloggers. I hope you're all having a great Friday night.

Tonight I want to show you a card I made for my MIL, I wanted to make it a bit special for her.

I remember seeing a card awhile ago that had a huge flower on it and thought I would try to make something similar. I scoured the Internet to try to find out how to make one but couldn't really find what I was looking for. I had some white tissue paper I wanted to use so I decided to make a carnation type . I didn't fluff it up too much in the centre because I wanted to put something in it – cos I'd found the perfect button. I tied the flower with dental floss and had left long ends so I threaded these through the button to keep it tight and used a glue dot to keep it in place.

I used one of my new embossing folders on some plain white card, pierced a hole in the centre, threaded the dental floss through this and stuck it at the back. On all the raised dots I stuck some gold peeloffs and some flat-backed pearls (to match the button).

The Happy Birthday sentiment was stamped with gold ink and heat embossed.

So here it is – I hope you like it. I have to admit I'm quite proud of this one.

I made a box for it out of gold card but the pictures didn't turn out very well so you'll just have to imagine that part.

Recipe

White card stock
White tissue paper
Dental floss
Button – from my sewing box
Gold peeloffs
Flat backed pearls
Sizzix Ornate Flowers Embossing folder
Happy Birthday stamp – Anita's Crafts sentiment set

Born in the USA

Good evening bloggers.

1st of all I need to make an apology – I've just realised it's been two weeks since I posted. Where has time gone???

Some of you will already know I got my first card commission the other day WHOO HOO!

I was told it was for a guy, he's turning 40, and he's loves Bruce Springsteen. Now when anyone says Bruce Springsteen to me I instantly think "Born in the USA" and Denim. I came up with the idea of making an American flag but using denim, coloured red, for the stripes – sounds like a great idea but in practice it was awful. It looked really messy and way too dark so after a couple of nights umming and ahhing over it, in the bin it went.

Plan B KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) there is nothing wrong with red card!! Although in hindsight I would have printed them off with the white stripes as a whole not as individual stripes that I then had to stick onto the card topper – nightmare trying to get the spacing correct and get them straight (What was that about Keep It Simple Stupid!)

Anyhoo here it is.

Recipe

Card from card stock
Red stripes and sentiment generated on Photoshop

Blue card and sentiment generated on Photoshop

Bruce Springsteen image snagged from the web, printed onto Photo paper and cut out with Micro tip scissors, mounted on foam pads

Sentiments covered with Sakura clear Glaze and inside sentiment embossed with clear powder

Vintage Birthday Card

Hi there bloggers, I hope you're all having a great weekend.

This is the birthday card I made for my niece (the younger sister of the one that I made the fairy card for). She works in one of Glasgow's swankiest hair salons and loves all things fashion related. Every time I see her dressed for a night out she's dressed in a vintage dress so it had to be a vintage card, didn't it.

I couldn't find an image I liked so out came my trusty pencils and I drew this myself, scanned it and produced my own digi-stamp. I wanted something similar to the dress she wore last Christmas so this is what I came up with. It's coloured in with Promarkers.

I blended the edges of a bit of white card with some dark copper coloured ink to match the dress and distressed it with a pair of scissors, then used the ink again to get a darker edge and then mounted the image with some foam tabs.

I then used the same ink on the Cuttlebug swirls folder and ran it through the bug with another bit of white card. The brown card is from stock and I distressed the edges of this and the Cuttlebug card too. (Can you tell I was getting into this distressing malarkey?) I stuck some teeny bits of ribbon loops to the back of the image mount and stuck on some little pearls.

The sentiment is a from a freebie set from Caz , that Claire gave me the link for, also inked but not distressed.
The whole thing is mounted onto some cream coloured card stock.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

All of the Christmas Cards

Black on White

White on Black
Black on Black

White on White

Red on Black

Hello again,

I decided rather that post all of these separately I would just show you them all. This is my selection of Christmas cards (so far). I've already shown you the black tree on white background one and my own red on white one. These are all the other variations. I've tried to make them all the same with the same size trees and backgrounds, the only differences are the borders. I've glittered them all.

I just have to decide now whether to stick with making more of these or do different coloured versions of the red one... Or do something completely different.

(The black and white versions are made using Jak Heath's freebies)

I would like to enter these cards in the following challenges:

CraftyCardmakers - Challenge #32 Use a Freebie (all of the black and white cards)

Scrap-Creations - Christmas Challenge

Tuesday Throwdown - Challenge #22 Anything Goes

Thanks for popping by and if you've any suggestions they'll be greatly received.

2nd of a Selection of Christmas Cards

Hi There,

I thought I'd better get started on my Christmas cards. You may remember I posted a black a white card a few weeks ago, so this is a variation on that one.
I bought a snowflake embossing folder and a Christmas tree brass stencil. After much messing about with the stencil trying to get it to emboss, or using some ink pads I basically gave up on it – if anyone knows how to use them properly can you please let me know before I throw it in the bin L.
I resorted to my old faithful Photoshop and decided to make my own snowflake tree similar to the black and white one I'd used before (ala Jak Heath). It's not as good as her's but I wanted to be able to change the background colour and didn't think I should mess about with her one.
I mounted the embossed snowflakes on black card and stuck it to a blank card from my card stock. I printed it off my tree and mounted it on black card, raised it up with foam tabs to give it a bit of 3Dness. I added a touch of glitter for some sparkle. I didn't want to add a sentiment, I thought it was obvious as it was but I stamped the inside.
Hope you like it cos I've got more to show you – I was a little production line making these J
Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments, I really appreciate it.

Fairy Birthday Card

Hello again,

Thanks for popping in to visit again. Today I want to share a card I made for my niece's birthday. I'm not gonna tell you how old she was cos it shocked us both J I used a card blank and layered it with some dark blue card. I then used some handmade pink and blue paper and some ribbon. The image is one I've used before and is from Hannah Lyn, I have it as a digi-stamp but you now need to get it as a stamp from here. I coloured it in with ProMarkers and old fashioned felt pens (I really must buy some more ProMarkers). The flowers are Prima ones that I've coloured but the top two are punched out of the handmade papers using my trust Lidl punches.

Hope you like it. I have to admit it's one of my favourites.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I Did It Creations - Challenge #25 "Girl of My Dreams" Make a Card for A Girl

One Stitch At a Time - Challenge #35 "Embellish It"

Have a nice Sunday night and see you all again soon.

A Huge Thankyou to Green Pixie

Hello again,

This post is to say a huge thank you to Green Pixie.  She makesAmigurumi's (little crotchet creatures), but she has been making mug cozies too. She recently did a little giveaway on her blog where you had to tell her which one you liked the most and guess what - I won one!! Not only did she send me the best mug cosy but she sent me a lovely mug full of some of her favourite drinks to go with it – and a little bar of chocolate (but you'll have to ask my OH what that was like as he snaffled it)
Please check out Green Pixie's blog page and have a look at her little creatures – they're gorgeous – here's a little selection for you

40th Birthday Card

Hello there,

Thank you all for taking the time to visit my blog today. I've got a 40th Birthday card to share with you. I made this a while back for a girl that I work with. She had a thing about turning 40 and unfortunately every card she received mentioned it, she even ended up with a huge balloon above her desk. The lesson to be learned here is "don't let on it bothers you"

The bear was from Pollycraft Designs and papers for this were from  The Creative Cottage. The 40th sentiment was a freebie from Charmed Cards & Crafts. Everything else was from my stash.

Thanks again for having a peek at my blog, and as always thanks for taking the time to comment too.

Cats, Cats and More Cats!

Hello again. Hope you've all had a good Monday (although does anyone ever have a good Monday?)

This was a little card I made a while back. The image has been coloured in with pencils, cut out on my nesties and mounted using a tight mat (draw round the outside edge of the nestie and cut out). I then made a frame using two slightly bigger nesties in the same card stock as the mount. It was all stuck onto a cream glittery card blank. Pretty simple but I liked it.

Now for the more exciting pictures – well I think so anyway...

I think it's about time I introduced you to our furbabies... Drum roll please...

Please meet Shadow, our tiger boy (he's half Scottish Wild Cat and boy does has have the temper to prove it)

And Kiarra (our little black dainty lady – although in this pic you can see she's still got markings)

And here they are in sleepy bliss

I could share more but they would only take over and it would become their blog.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks again for all your comments.

Flowers and Butterflies

Hope you're all having a good weekend out there in Blogland.

This is a card I made last week – I set myself a challenge to pick the first piece of paper/card out of my box at random and use it in a card. Oh what a challenge it was J I thought I was gonna go crazy.

I picked the gold paper (it is quite sparkly in real life but it's not showing up very well here). I then decided to kinda base it on the Splitcoaststampers sketch 299 it's only kinda cos I got my layers backwards (oops).

I mounted the gold onto some purple cardstock and stuck it to the card. I've had these chipboard butterflies in my stash for ages but have never been sure what to do with them until now. I embossed another bit of the purple card and stuck the butterflies onto it with some glue dots.

I printed the pale blue card from my pc and then stuck on a large purple flower (this is actually the wrong side – the other side has dots and sparkles on it but I wanted it plain), layered it with another smaller glitter flower and then a button. I wasn't sure about it and kept messing about with different embellishments but I finally settled on these and I really like it now. It's much more sparkly in real life, it's just a pity you can't really see it here.

Challenges Entered

Paper Sundaes Challenge #38 – Something from Your Stash (all of it)

Gingerloft Challenge No 3 – All that Glitters or Blings (the gold background paper and the silver glitter flower)

Thanks again for all your comments, they really do make me smile.

And There’s More

Hi fellow bloggers.

Yep you guessed it, there are more I haven't posted.

This is another Fantasy ATC that was sent to Padster. It's some red shiny card with the cutest dragon from
Cuddly
Buddly Crafts (you can get it here) , coloured in with old fashioned felt tip pens. The little flowers were embossed and then cut out with a little flower punch I got as part of a set ages ago from Lidl.

I hope you like my little cutie pie.
Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you've all had a great weekend.

I found another one...

Hello blog hoppers, guess what I found some more...

This was for an ATC swap I did ages ago on MSE. The theme was fantasy so it had to be a fairy. I had this free digi-stamp (sorry, for the life of me I can't remember where I got it from and if anyone recognises it can they let me know so I can pass on my thanks)

I had seen a goth Tinkerbell on my net wanderings and thought that it would be a perfect way to colour this little fairy. She's been coloured with old fashioned felt pens (this was before my ProMarkers obsession began) mounted on coloured card and silver board all cut out with nesties. I threaded the ribbon through with a needle, tied it and added some flat backed pearls. I thought it would double up as a bookmark as she's a book fairy with her very own little bookworm.

I have learned my lesson and now when I save digi-images I save the site address too so in future I should be able to pass on my respects.

Oh and last but not least, my swap partner was Padster, please check out her blog especially if you love bears.

Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comments, they always put a big smile on my face.

Thanks to Pops and Happy Days I can now point you in the direction of this image.  It's by Hannah Lyn, you can't get it as a freebie anymore (BOO! ) but you can buy it as a stamp here.

Oops I forgot to post this one

I was looking through my pictures and realised that there a few cards and things that I haven't posted yet.  Some of these are quite old but I thought I'd post them anyway as this is supposed to be a record of my work.  Anywhoo, this is the card I made for Marg from the MSE site.  It was a swap card so you may have seen it on her blog already.

I made her a little bookmark to go with it...

I think she liked them.   I am quite proud of these because when I made them they just looked right - if you know what I mean.

Thanks for stopping by and watch out for some more old but new cards soon...

1st of Many Christmas Cards

This is my first of many Christmas Cards. I thought I'd better get started on them. Fifi Folle is in charge of the challenge on MSE at the moment and she wants us to make a Black And White card. I hope she won't mind my glitter (it's gold, silver and red). I haven't put a sentiment on it because I thought it looked too busy. Anyway here it is –

I have to be honest and say this was a really easy card to make because I used one of Jak Heath's downloads. I matted them onto cardstock that I'd coloured black with my promarkers. I used some of my new glitter glue on the centres of the snowflakes and mounted the tree with sponge tabs to give it a bit of depth.

Thanks for looking

Would You Believe It - I Made A Card!!

Hello again.

First of all can I say hello to my new followers, thank you for stopping by.

Well as usual I kinda left this one to the last minute.  It's my wee dad's 89th birthday tomorrow and I just couldn't think what kind of card to make.  I get my crafty gene from my dad and I remember spending many an hour with him and a pile of art stuff having great fun and when I found this image on the Internet, that is exactly what it reminded me of.  I photoshopped the Teddies' noses to match the backing paper I picked (cheating a wee bit here) and added some red glitter to the paint brush.  I've never tried embossing a card blank before and I quite liked the way it turned out.  I embossed the image after I cut it out using my Nestie and an embossing tool (a tip from an MSE friend) and matted it onto blue card.  I'm not too happy with the ribbon cos it doesn't stick very well (I didn't have any glue dots - added to my every growing shopping list).

Anyhoo enough of the boring stuff, this is my wee dad's card - I hope he likes it (and you do too)

Thanks again for visiting.

Apologies and Cherries!

Hi guys,

I hope you haven't all deserted me.  To say life got in the way was an understatement - I didn't realise it had been soooooooo long since I posted anything.  Ooops.

OH and I have been decorating the house with a view to selling so it's been a bit manic (that and the fact that my craft stuff was deemed clutter and boxed and put away - got it back now. YAY!)

Now for the fun stuff - look what I've got....

I would like to say a big Thank You to Sue from Crafting With Sue for giving this to me.  I feel very honoured to say the least.

Here are the rules of this award....

1. Thank the person who gave you this award.  Thanks again Sue

2. Copy the award and put it on your blog. Tick.

3. List three things which you love about yourself.

I have a nutty sense of humour that only my OH truly gets.
I'm really tall and have very long legs
I can draw (which I get from my dad - thanks pops)

4. Post a picture you love.

I know this is a bit of a strange one and it looks like some random picture of a bench in a park but it'll make sense in a minute.  The bench is in the park grounds of Stirling University, which is where Chris and I met and we sat on this bench and watched the sun come up, it was very romantic.  So exactly a year later Chris decided that we should take a day trip back to OUR bench except this time it was even more romantic because he proposed.  This picture was taken about 30 minutes later.  I could have showed you one of me with tears running down my face or him with a silly grin on his face (or heaven forbid one of us kissing) but I chose this one.

5. Tag five people you wish to pass this award on to.

In no particular order I would like to pass this award onto:

Phil and Nic Look Away NOW!

Hi there.

I've decided to take a chance in posting this.  My OH's brother and his wife have just moved into a new house (in Brisbane, Australia) and I'm hoping that one of the last things they do is to set up their pc and connect it to the net.  If I'm right then they won't see this card before they get it.  If I'm wrong - DON'T LOOK!!!!!!

I couldn't think what to use on this and then had a flash of inspiration - they sent us the Estate Agents blurb for the house complete with pictures so I downloaded the main one onto PaintShop Pro and changed it to black and white (it's supposed to be Sepia but it doesn't look like it)  I found the sentiment and followed a sketch for the layout.

OK - they should have stopped reading by now..... here's the card....

Recipe

Card and buttons - stash
BG papers - Pollycraft Printable Papers (Dusty Roses and Cloudy Pearls sets)
Sentiment - Freebie from Create With TLC
Image - From Estate Agents blurb

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar - Challenge 103 (3 designer papers and 3 buttons)

Thanks again for stopping by.  I really appreciate it.
